6 Biedermeier Period Rooms

THE ADOPTION OF A MUSEUM EXHIBIT FROM 1924

During the Biedermeier period, furniture was typically made from local woods such as cherry, birch or walnut. These materials stood for simple elegance and regional availability, which meant that long transport routes were avoided. From today's perspective, this was an early approach to sustainable resource use. Handcrafted furniture of high quality was produced, which was used by several generations.  This durability automatically leads to a reduction in environmental impact through savings in materials and production energy.
